- 33% first-fill American oak casks
- 18% virgin American oak casks
- 25% French oak casks
- 24% Vin Doux Naturel (fortified wine) casks
ABV: 50%
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Fruity aromas with notes of green apples, rhubarb, custard, and milk chocolate.
- Palate: Initially sweet with flavors of green apples, caramel, and custard. There are also hints of rhubarb and custard, developing into a creamy texture.
- Finish: Gentle and lingering with a subtle heat and an oily texture.
Ballymorgan 1.1 is part of Waterford’s Single Farm Origin series, which aims to highlight the influence of terroir on whisky flavor. This expression was distilled in 2016 and bottled in 2020, using barley from the fertile loamy soils of Ballymorgan farm, located in the rain shadow of the Wicklow Mountains. The diverse cask maturation contributes to the complexity and depth of the whisky, making it a notable release in Waterford’s exploration of Irish terroir.
