Description
The 2025 edition of Springbank’s iconic 12-year-old Cask Strength returns in Batch 28 — matured exclusively in 100% ex-bourbon casks and bottled at natural cask strength (55.5% ABV). This marks the first time since 2021 that the 12-year CS is back to pure bourbon cask maturation.
Un-chill filtered and without added colouring, it preserves the raw, classic character of Campbeltown whisky — combining rich sweetness, coastal influence, and a touch of smoke, for a dram that’s both robust and refined.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Sweet and inviting — anticipate fruit-salad candy, raspberry ripple ice-cream, dried mango, frosting sugar and dark chocolate.
- Palate: The complexity unfolds with smoked cayenne pepper, crushed chillies, toffee, and a hint of charred steak — a bold interplay of sweet, smoky and savory.
- Finish: Gentle peat smoke emerges, accompanied by pink grapefruit zest, cocoa powder, glazed cherries and a touch of salted pretzels — delivering a long, warming, slightly salty-sweet conclusion.
Overall Character:
Batch 28 is a full-bodied, richly layered Campbeltown single malt. The 100% bourbon cask maturation gives sweetness and depth, while the signature Springbank palate — balancing smoke, coastal salinity and rich malt — remains intact. It’s a bold, intense dram — ideal for those who love cask-strength whiskies with real character and complexity.
