Description
Mitchells Glengyle Ltd produces Kilkerran 16 Year Old 2022 in the Campbeltown region of Scotland. This official bottling features a ppm level (12-15) similar to Springbank whisky. However, its upward-going line-arm gives the whisky a distinctly different texture. This 16-year-old matures 70% in ex-bourbon casks and 30% in ex-sherry casks, and is bottled at 46% ABV. The release is limited to 7,000 bottles worldwide.
The nose of Kilkerran 16 Year Old begins with a citrus burst, featuring notes of oranges and opal fruits, then evolves to include Turkish delight, foam bananas, strawberry laces, and a malty, cereal note. The palate is sweet with a soft hint of peat smoke, showcasing flavors of pear drops, sherbet, toffee apples, toasted marshmallows, and a continuous orange note from the nose. The finish is dry, marked by notes of liquorice, peppermint, and peat smoke.
