Description

Holyrood Arrival is the long-awaited debut single malt from Edinburgh’s Holyrood Distillery—the city’s first working single malt producer in nearly a century. This first release is a limited edition of 8,188 bottles, showcasing a confident, complex dram produced from traditional malt by Crisp Maltings.

The whisky underwent a lengthy 104-hour fermentation using a duo of distillers’ yeasts (DY379 and DY502), lending it layered depth from the outset. Maturation took place in a rich mix of first-fill bourbon barrels, Oloroso butts, Pedro Ximénez hogsheads, and rum barriques.

Tasting Notes

• Nose:
  Dried fruits, sticky toffee pudding, cinnamon, orange peel, butterscotch, and hints of honey and tropical fruit.
• Palate:
  Digestive biscuit, ginger, candied orange, treacle, praline, toffee apple, and warm spice with earthy undertones.
• Finish:
  Long and evolving with baking spices, forest fruits, hints of brown sugar, and a light espresso edge.
