Springbank Distillery

Springbank Distillery, established in 1828, operates in Campbeltown, Scotland. Known for its traditional methods, it remains one of the few distilleries in Scotland to complete the entire production process on-site. This approach ensures full control over the quality of its whisky. J&A Mitchell & Co., a family-owned company, manages Springbank along with Glengyle Distillery and the independent bottler Cadenhead’s.

Springbank produces three distinct single malts: Springbank, Longrow, and Hazelburn. Springbank, lightly peated and partially triple distilled, boasts a complex flavor profile and ages in sherry and bourbon casks. Longrow, introduced in 1973, features heavy peat and a unique distillation process that creates a robust, smoky flavor. Hazelburn, first distilled in 1997, is unpeated and triple distilled, offering a lighter, fruitier whisky.

The distillery uses traditional methods like floor malting all its barley and employing direct-fired stills. Visitors can enjoy comprehensive tours showcasing the distillery’s rich heritage and meticulous production process, which has stayed largely unchanged for nearly two centuries.
