Scapegrace Distillery

Scapegrace Distillery, located at 45.0194° S, 169.2153° E in Central Otago, New Zealand, utilizes its unique climate to craft high-quality spirits. Founded in 2014, Scapegrace produces innovative products, including the world’s first black gin. The distillery benefits from intense summers and cold winters, ideal conditions for aging their single malt whisky.

Scapegrace follows a “Grain to Glass” philosophy, meticulously overseeing every production step. The pristine water from the Clutha River, fed by Southern Alps glacial runoff, ensures the purity of their spirits. This commitment to quality is reflected in their range of gin, vodka, and single malt whisky.

In recent years, Scapegrace expanded with a $25 million distillery project in Central Otago. This new facility on a 36-hectare property near Lake Dunstan and Mt Pisa boosts their production capacity. The expansion includes barrel halls, warehousing, and a visitor center, establishing Scapegrace as a leader in New Zealand’s craft spirits industry.
