Lochranza Distillery

Lochranza Distillery, established in 1995, is located on the northern end of the Isle of Arran. The distillery was founded by Harold Currie, a former director at Chivas, and became the first legal distillery on the island in over 150 years. The proximity to Loch na Davie provides a special source of fresh water crucial for whisky production.

Lochranza produces a variety of single malt whiskies known for their purity and natural flavors. The distillery follows traditional methods, using high-quality barley and water, and never adds caramel or chill-filters its whisky. This commitment to natural production ensures a clean, sweet dram. Notable releases include their 10-year-old and various cask strength editions.

The distillery offers guided tours and whisky tastings, allowing visitors to learn about the whisky-making process and sample different expressions. The visitor center, opened by the Queen in 1997, includes a shop and the CASKS Café, which serves local food and drinks.

In 2019, Lochranza expanded by opening a sister distillery, Lagg, on the southern end of the island. This new facility focuses on producing a unique style of peated single malt.
