Knockdhu Distillery
Knockdhu Distillery, located in Knock, Banffshire, Scotland, has produced single malt whisky since 1894. John Morrison founded the distillery on the Knock Estate, taking advantage of pure water springs from Knock Hill and nearby barley fields. The Great North of Scotland Railway helped transport products, contributing to its early success.
Producing whisky under the brand name anCnoc, the distillery blends traditional methods with modern techniques. The distillation process uses a semi-lauter mash tun, wooden washbacks, and copper pot stills, mostly unchanged since the distillery’s inception. These elements ensure anCnoc retains its light, fresh flavor, delighting whisky enthusiasts for over a century.
Knockdhu offers various expressions, including 12, 16, and 21-year-old single malts. The whiskies age in American and Spanish oak barrels, with thick granite walls providing a stable environment. This attention to detail and the distillery’s innovative yet traditional approach have earned anCnoc widespread acclaim in the whisky community.
