Dalmore Distillery
Founded in 1839 by Alexander Matheson, Dalmore Distillery sits on the shores of the Cromarty Firth in the Northern Highlands. Known for its rich single malt whiskies, Dalmore uses high-quality casks, including ex-bourbon, sherry, and port, to enhance depth and character. The Dalmore 12 Year Old, with orange and vanilla tones, offers a great introduction, while the 18 Year Old delivers richer, more intense flavors.
Dalmore’s unique distillation process uses water-cooled still necks, increasing reflux for a smoother spirit. Master Blender Richard Paterson has shaped Dalmore’s distinctive flavor through meticulous cask selection and aging. Visitors can explore the distillery’s history and whisky-making process. However, the visitor center is under renovation and will reopen with a new experience in late 2024.
