In this 9th edition of Christian Drouin’s Experimental range, we decided to explore Scotland, the cradle of single malts, with a special focus on the Arran distillery. For nearly two decades, Drouin has been exchanging casks with the Arran distillery. In this edition, we selected a 13-year-old Pays d’Auge calvados, known for its fruity and rounded characteristics. We aged it in six old French oak barrels that had previously matured Arran whiskies. After six months, we bottled the calvados in a limited series of 1,992 bottles.<\/p>\n
I was thrilled when Euan Mitchell agreed to share some Arran barrels with us. Upon further research, Euan revealed that some barrels from our distillery had just become available. These had been aging whiskies for over 17 years. We were delighted to welcome these barrels back to our cellars after their extensive journey to Scotland. \u2014 Guillaume Drouin<\/p>\n
Tasting Profile<\/strong><\/p>\n Nose: Delicately unfolds with aromas of apples, ranging from ripe to butter-baked, complemented by malt, apricot, and pear notes. Palate: Exhibits finesse, beautifully balancing roundness with subtle acidic touches.
