Plantation
Plantation Rum, launched in 2003, is part of Maison Ferrand, a French cognac producer founded in 1989. Alexandre Gabriel, the owner, uses his industry contacts to source high-quality casks from the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. The company accesses distilleries like Clarendon and Long Pond in Jamaica through their acquisition of the West India Rum Distillery (WIRD) and shares in National Rums of Jamaica.
Plantation Rum stands out for its double-aging process. The rum first ages in tropical conditions in its country of origin. It then ages a second time in France in cognac barrels, enhancing its complexity and flavor. The brand offers a variety of rums, including single cask releases and blends like Plantation XO and vintage editions such as the 2005 Old Reserve.
Maison Ferrand emphasizes traditional methods and high-quality ingredients. This approach ensures their rums are rich in flavor and character. They commit to authenticity and transparency in their production processes, earning them a respected place in the rum industry.
